First Kick off For Homecoming
Today was interesting; it was the first kick off day for homecoming week. Riiight. I came to school totally blinded by a sea of red as soon as I stepped out of the car, What the?...I got to my class and found a lot people wearing red and I asked the kid beside me what was going on. He said today is the first day of homecoming week, all the classes were suppose to dress in their colors, and we had a pep assembly later on today. Oh God.
...Oh, and be glad you're wearing green.
Huh?
You're a junior right?
Yeah...
You're wearing green. That is your class color.
(I look down) I was wearing green. Fuck yes.
The pep assembly couldn't have been more deafening, annoying, and cliche like every other highschool. At Sion, I may not have worn purple all the time, but I sure did feel proud to be a Sion Storm.
Notre Dame de Sion Logo. It was on my collared shirt and sweater. You have to admit, it looks damn tight.
As I sat in the middle of the bleachers today (there was no room) I knew there was no way in hell that I would be proud to be a 'St. Charles North Star' There was a haze of purple (freshmen), yellow (sophomores), green (juniors), red (seniors). All the pretty girls on drill team and on the cheer squad were hopping around in little skirts; I swear I thought their boobs were bobbing up and down so much that they were going to burst from excessive jumping. I felt like vomiting. The worse part of it was that the drill team came out wearing 'ghetto' outfits and they danced to '4 my People' by Missy Elliot.
People, gangstas, and pimps and people
Smokin that deeper reefer
Up in the club wit speakers
I had some base and tweeters
DJ is jockin needle
Sweat till I catch a fever
Call me the illest diva
Yo I'm on FIRE!!!!!
People go head and drink up
Get in the club get fucked up
See me you got get lucked up
Someone to touch your rubber
Show me some love,
strip off your clothes,
and take off your socks
Do they have a remote inkling about Missy's rapping? No. They are white girls who prance around in little pink mini-skirts. Yeah, just stop yourself before I trip you and your perfectly polished pinky-finger breaks off.)
Now let me tell you, I know my Hip Hop because I was from Philly and that's all we listened to. My school is 99.9% white. The fact that they tried to dance to this song was sinful. I knew that if any black person would have seen this that they would have been offended. I know I was and I'm not even black. I have a problem with a school that pretends to act black when there are about 8 all together in a school of 2,000 students. It's upsetting that there is no culture whatsoever in my school and we are only an hour away from Chicago which has tons of culture. You'd think...you'd think...but no. They are sheltered, rich white people. Sick.
(I'm not rascist but I mos def have a problem with all that happened today with the dance routine and how my school acts.) Get out. You'll see there is a bigger world than you hiding behind those lockers and drunk party nights. I'm just sad for them. Really. Just very sad.
On a lighter note... I did play with my swedish fish
Too bad they all disappeared because this is what I did
