Not prepared to answer questions about us
My new colleague and I were busy doing absolutely nothing because it's the summer. And the Dean is out and it's slow.
And so we friended each other on facebook and she looked at my pictures and she asked me who you were.
And it took me a moment to respond and I stuttered for a while as I tried to find the most politicaly correct words.
"My ex-boyfriend of six years."
"Your ex boyfriend from six years ago?"
"No. I dated him for six years."
"Oh."
"We just broke up... recently."
"Oh." PAUSE. "I'm sorry."
And honestly, I'm just not prepared to answer questions about us. And the more I say it aloud. And the more I make it known to the public that we're over, the more real it becomes. Because every time we had a fight I kept it to myself because I didn't want anyone to judge us anymore because they didn't understand what it was like to be us. And now. And now. I'm actually saying it's over out loud.
And honestly, I'm just not prepared to answer questions about us.
